Developer Dmitri Karshakevich came up with the free E-Z Contact Book application to help all the users out there who want an efficient means of staying on top of all their contact info. The application lets you create groups and then add contacts to those groups. There is a lot of info you can add for each contact. Then, with a simple mouse click, you can visit that contact’s webpage, send an email to that contact, or even call that contact.

The E-Z Contact Book installation file, an executable, weighs in at little over 2MB. Download this executable, run it, and a setup wizard will help you install the application on your Windows-powered PC. Support for Windows 7, Vista, XP with Service Pack 2, Server 2003 and Server 2008 R2 is provided.

There are three main panes on E-Z Contact Book’s interface. The one to the left lists all your groups of contacts. The one in the middle presents a list of all your contacts. And the pane to the right presents details on a selected contact. In the upper left hand corner there are buttons for several functions E-Z Contact Book performs, such as calling a contact or visiting a contact’s website.

When you run E-Z Contact Book for the first time you will be informed that there are no groups yet and you should start by creating one. You can do that from the File menu or by right clicking the pane to the left. You can create as many groups as you want, and that comes in handy for keeping your contacts organized.

Once you have a group, you can start adding contacts. You can do this manually, or you can import contacts from various sources. There is a lot of info you can provide about a contact, from name and email to address and birthday. What you can do next depends on the info you enter and on the software installed on your machine.

If you enter a website's URL, you can click the Open Webpage button and you will be directed to that website. If you enter an email address, with a click of the mouse you can launch your email client and send out an email to that contact. You can also call a contact using Skype and you can locate that contact on the map using Google Maps.

When you have a lot of contacts, it can be difficult to locate the one you want, even though you are methodical and you nicely sort all your contacts into groups. To help you with this sort of situation, E-Z Contact Book comes with a handy search function.

When you have a lot of contacts in your database, you don’t want to lose them. You can prevent a data loss accident by exporting your contacts and by printing out your list of contacts.

The E-Z Contact Book application makes it quite easy to create and manage a database of contacts and provides much needed functionality to stay in touch with those contacts.

Pros

You can import contacts or you can manually add contacts to the list. Sort contacts into groups to stay organized. Details on a contact are presented in a pane to the right. With a simple mouse click you can visit a contact’s webpage, call the contact using Skype, email the contact using your default email client, and locate the contact’s address on Google Maps. Create a backup by exporting your list of contacts. E-Z Contact Book is freeware.

Cons

None that I could think of.
